Fighting for Agriculture: Montana's #1 Industry

Agriculture remains the number one industry in Montana. During this time of solid prices for our commodities, I’m fighting to maintain a strong safety net of farm programs that will allow our producers to plan for the next crop and the next generation. As a fifth generation Montana rancher, I remain committed to fully implementing mandatory country of origin labeling, increasing our markets abroad, and giving agriculture producers the tools necessary to make a good living and remain active in production agriculture.

Denny is making a difference

  • Successfully fought for a Mandatory Country of Origin Labeling implementation timeline in the 2008 Omnibus Appropriations Bill.
  • Helped pass needed Agriculture Disaster Assistance.
    • In the past 5 years, Denny has helped secure $10 billion to provide needed relief for producers suffering drought or other weather related losses
  • Prevented Farm Service Agency Office Closures in Helena, White Sulphur Springs, Livingston, Plains, Big Timber, Hysham, and Hamilton
  • Secured important agriculture research dollars for Montana’s university systems
    • Montana State University’s Animal Biosciences Facility
    • Montana Beef Network
    • Brucellosis Vaccine Development
    • Barley for Rural Development
  • Introduced and passed a bill in 21 days that extended irrigation contracts for producers in four Montana irrigation districts that had been set to expire.
